CSP Today

The Social Network for Concentrated Solar Power Professionals

I wanted to know/understand the macro economics of an CSP power plant, the smallest commerically viable unit for an CSP unit on an average Solar Isolation location.
I might be a little too cryptic, but my intent is to understand the basic ROI (Return on investment) of an commerically viable unit.

Our partners and Green Eco Tek plan on building small 1, 3, 5, 10 or 25MW CSP plants. The cost of a 5mw (allowing $2,000,000 for land) is approximately $25,000,000. Call us if you are interested in more info.

Hi Sean,
Thanks for the response, Could you send me a website of your partner and a brief about your company?.

If you are interested in the smallest commerically viable system then you should consider some of the modular CSP designs. Graham Ford on this forum has a good example of a system that could be deployed as a smaller plant as well as a large scale development.
The smaller power systems give particulary good return on investments where the plant can be co-located with another user of power or heat. With an economic model of a smaller system where the generation is tied more closely to the requirements for power. Where this model breaks down is when costs and effort of negotiating and planning a site outweigh the return.

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for an prompt and precise information, I will visit Grahm Ford's Forum and grab some more info, When you mention :this model breaks down is:, could you be a little more elaborative?
Before that let me brief you on my site details, this place is a small county in one of the states in India, where there is huge potential for power looms? and some spinning mills, but they have acute shortage of power, and my intent was to see if we could start up something on a small scale and then move into larger implemenations instead of a Big Bang approach.
